Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Authors New-to-Me in 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.  2015 has been a marvelous reading year.  I stumbled upon more than a few authors and novels that impressed me.  Here's to me hoping 2016 will be even better.

1.  Neil Gaiman

I can credit this, along with many others, to my dad.  Really, he practically writes this blog for me.

2.  Agatha Christie

You know what, my dad has some really spectacular book recommendations.  Maybe he should start a blog.  Then again, from what he says, my great-grandmother was the mastermind behind all of this.

3.  George Orwell

*slow clap for my dad*

4.  Holly Black

Oh look!  A book I read because of book blogs and not my father.

5.  Anthony Doerr

Simply beautiful.

6.  Gillian Flynn

Horrifying in the best way possible.

7.  Jandy Nelson

Hard to get into but well worth it.

8.  Erik Larson

I am beyond shocked I even liked this one, even more so that it made it onto this list.  Well done, Erik Larson.

  1. Hahaha! Ahhh parents. I remember when I asked my father to read over a review for me and he basically changed everything to his words. He didn't even read the book! Uhhh father? This is my blog, sorry. XD Anyway, Jandy Nelson is a wonderful writer. I loved I'll Give You The Sun. Such a beautiful book! Fantastic post Erin or Erin's dad... XD

    1. My dad reads my blog all the time, and it's rather funny when he says something about what HE would have put. XD And I am so happy to have read I'll Give You the Sun this year. Thanks for commenting, Anna!

  2. Lovely list Erin!! Gillian Flynn is one of my favorites. I haven't read AgathaChristie in forever but I have loved what I read. All the Light We Cannot See is almost up for me at the library - I think I am 5th on the wait list. I am really excited to get to that. And I can't believe I forgot Jandy Nelson!!

  3. I LOVED And Then There Were None too! It was my first Agatha Christie and I read it this year too, so snap. And I have Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects to read, so I might try and get to that soon.

  4. Hmmmm. Christmas must be almost here. This blog is entirely and solely created/written by Erin. That she shares her thoughts on books, what she may write on her blog, and actually likes some that her Dad recommends is a most precious gift. Her great-grandmother Georgette would be proud of her addiction and desire to share/discuss with other bibliophiles.

    1. Christmas!!! And you should definitely keep recommending books to me. So far, so good! It probably started with Harry Potter. And then Agatha Christie, Neil Gaiman, Percy Jackson, etc. :) And Sherlock, which Georgette recommended to YOU first! I come from a long line of book lovers.

  8. Sadly, I haven't read anything from these authors. Well, I have tried to read Stardust but I didn't continue with it and I forgot to pick it up again. LOL! I really want to read Jandy Nelson's books though!
