Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish, and the theme this week is to list the top ten book releases of (the rest of) 2015 that I am excited for!
1. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken
Publication Date: January 5, 2016
I figured that since I was cheating on this one, I might as well get it over with. Passenger is not technically released until January 5, 2016. But that's only five days removed from 2015, so I figured it was fine. Plus, I am SO excited for this one! I loved The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, and this sounds equally as good--if not better. Let's see: mysterious abilities, time travel, and treasure hunts. There is nothing not to like. Not. One. Thing. Don't you dare disagree. If I get this and die from the overwhelming excitement, you'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.
2. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Publication Date: September 1, 2015
This one actually does get released in 2015. See, I'm not always a rule breaker. This is about a girl who is literally allergic to the world around her, unlike my people who just prefer the light of a laptop screen to the light of the sun (it's because we are all secretly vampires and can't give it away by *sparkling*). The girl (whose name is not mentioned in the synopsis for some idiotic reason) has been contained to a clean room for the past seventeen years. If that isn't an interesting premise, just stab me with a fork.
3. Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
Publication Date: June 16, 2015
Samantha McAllister is the most popular girl in her school. On the outside, she's perfect. But on the inside, she has Purely-Obsessional OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). Sam struggles to keep her secret from everyone, including her friends, who wouldn't understand. That is, until she meets Caroline, who shows her a different perspective on life. This book could be great. It could also not be. We'll see.
4. The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
Publication Date: June 9, 2015
This is the sequel to The Queen of the Tearling, the one that is actually released today, June 9, 2015. The Queen of the Tearling was good, with even better potential. I am looking forward to seeing how the author builds on the story arc created in the first installment. This is not one I would run screaming into a burning building to be able to read right away, but it is one I will certainly read eventually. At some point. Honestly, I may forget about it until seven months from now. It's been known to happen.
5. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Publication Date: September 1, 2015
Okay, so I have yet to read Heir of Fire, but I adored Crown of Midnight, and if everyone is to be believed, it only gets even better. So I'm excited for the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series, anyway. I love this series, and as does everyone else, really. It's magical, and foreboding, and just plain marvelous. I needed this in my hands yesterday. School be damned, if someone handed me this book today, I would not be going to my last exam tomorrow. Who needs success in life when you have books???
6. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
Publication Date: October 6, 2015
This is the book series talked about in Rainbow Rowell's book Fangirl, and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty anxious for this to be released! From what I understand, it is not the same story as written by Cath in Fangirl, but it is the same world and characters. Rainbow Rowell has only written contemporary fiction, as far as I know, so I can't wait to see how she handles a fantasy world!
7. The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson
Publication Date: July 7, 2015
I read The Kiss of Deception a few months ago, and while it had minor issues, I really enjoyed it. It ended on a cliff hanger and I need to know what happens so badly. It isn't as bad as the cliff hanger in House of Hades by Rick Riordan (you know what I mean). Nothing can be worse than that. But still. I'm not the patient sort.
8. Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
Publication Date: December 1, 2015
Last year, I read These Broken Stars and feel completely and madly in love with that book. It was eerie, beautifully written, and Doctor Who-esque. Sadly, I have been hesitant to read the sequel, This Shattered World, because it is not the same characters and plot. But I'm going to get over that, since that is a ridiculous reason not to read a book. In the meantime, perhaps I will hire Despicable Me minions to steal this for me... It's a race to the death! I will reward my everlasting gratitude to the winner.
9. Soundless by Richelle Mead
Publication Date: November 10, 2015
This sounds so unique and different from Vampire Academy, and I can't wait to see how Richelle Mead explores a new world. And the premise is just ridiculously cool. It vaguely reminds me of that one Fairly Odd Parents episode where Timmy Turner wished for there to be no noise and the world went silent. That one has stuck in my mind since I was seven years old, so I must have liked it. I have high expectations for this one, I'm not going to lie.
10. The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
Release Date: October 6, 2015
Shoutout to my dad, who always said that it would be cool if Rick Riordan did a series involving the Norse gods. Well, I guess Rick Riordan got the message, because here we are, and here that book is. The Percy Jackson series ended last year, finally, and made me feel like my childhood was over (thanks a lot, Rick). But, nope! I can remain a kid forever, because he's still writing!!! Granted, it isn't Percy, but Magnus is Annabeth's cousin, right? So maybe we'll get a glimpse of the half-bloods. I will beg Rick Riordan, if I have to. I'll do it. I'll go to a freaking cross roads and summon a demon to sell my soul to, if I must.
I want to read Passenger so bad! I loved The Darkest Minds too, so I'm so excited to see what Alex Bracken writes next! I didn't put Magnus Chase on my list as I still haven't finished reading Percy Jackson (don't hate me!) and I didn't want to be spoilt, no matter how minor the connections to PJ are. Great list! I want to read so many of these books. :)
ReplyDeleteI know, it's physically painful not being able to read Passenger this very second. You must finish Percy Jackson, that's an order! Those books are literally my childhood. Well, them and Harry Potter, of course. I want to read ALL THE BOOKS.

ReplyDeleteGreat list! I can't wait for Everything Everything either. It sounds so amazing and sweet. I've heard good things about it already too which makes me even more excited! I'm a new follower. :)
ReplyDeleteKrystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thanks! I'm so super excited by Everything, Everything. I've been fascinated by the idea of a "clean room" and being allergic to the world since a House episode ages ago. Fingers crossed it will be awesome!
DeleteAlso, hi!!!!! :D
I'm so excited for Queen of Shadows! I hope you enjoy Heir of Fire. I also have Every Last Word on my TBR.
