Top Ten Tuesday: Series I have Yet to Finish

Here's a secret:  I am alarmingly bad at finishing series.  I am physically unable to marathon series and often require months between installments.  Here is a list exposing my shameful lack of discipline.  There's just an overabundance of new, shiny books that are brimming with endless possibilities.

It has been nearly a complete year since I read the first book in this series.  I do intend to read the sequel at some point...it just isn't very high on my list.  There's just too many books!

Everybody is in love with this series.  Everybody.  You even glance at a blog and see this mentioned somewhere (usually with lots of CAPS LOCK and fangirling).  I must have a short in my brain, because I was underwhelmed.  I'll get to the sequel eventually, I suppose.

Oh, how I adored the concept of this book!  It read a bit...young to me, though.  I'm definitely planning on picking up Sapphire Blue sometime in the next few months, hopefully.  Time travel is cool--just like bow ties.

I always forget about this series.  I'm only one away from the conclusion--and have been for over a year.  I have a lack of motivation and memory.  I need to scrounge up some determination and read the last book--and hope I remember what happened in the last one...

Technically, this trilogy isn't completed yet.  But the final book is being released this month, so I'm counting it--and considering reading the sequel sooner than I thought.  This was another hyped book I wasn't entirely convinced by--but I won't be giving up any time soon.

In case you didn't know...I loved the heck out of this book.  It wasn't perfect by any means--but such an interesting concept!  Two souls, one body.  I'm trying to come up with a halfway decent excuse for my lack of sequel reading for this one, but nothing is coming to mind.  I blame Netflix.  Netflix gets in the way of everything.

I read the first two in this delightful series back in February.  They were entertaining, expeditious...and I can't come up with another "e" word.  Ah, well, I'll try another day.

Hey, look at that!  Less than ten!  That's because I have more series to catch up on that aren't finished yet...that okay, right?

  1. I am so awful when it comes to series... I neglect them all the time. The first book has to be pretty spectacular to motivate me to read on! Ooh I've seen the film for Ruby Red and I thought the books looked really cool. I love the plot! Shadow and Bone has been on my TBR for a while... do you recommend? ♡

    1. It is just so difficult to stick to one series when there's so many good books to choose from! I saw the film, too and thought it was pretty decent. The books...well, for me, BOOK, IS cool. I WOULD recommend Shadow and Bone, but not over some others! :D

  2. Agh, I can't binge-read series either. I JUST CAN'T. Even if I like am focused on finishing a series, I'll still only read one book a month from it. xD I just like to mix things up and have lots of options, hehe. OHHHH. I do love the Cinder books so so much though! Although technically, Winter isn't out yet, so I'm only waiting on that one because I'm forced to. ;) I gave up on Hush Hush (Nora annoyed me too much >_<) but I think I should try and read more of the Miss Peregrine's books too! Particularly if the first one is getting a movie...SQUEE.

    1. It's impossible! I can love series to pieces and still take months off between installments. I'm glad you loved the Cinder series so much! I really do need to give it another chance. Maybe the sequel is better than the preceding one, hmm? I completely understand why you gave up on Hush, Hush. In all honesty, I wouldn't finish it if I had more than one book left. I am super excited to see what they do with the MP movie! Thanks for commenting!

    1. I really do need to read Cinder's sequel! I am happy you love it. The Lux series is one I also don't feel the need to go out and read right away. Thanks for commenting!

  4. I thought exactly the same thing about Ruby Red (great Dr Who reference, by the way) and Miss Peregrines. The latter was a good book and the photographs were amazing, but I just don't get the hype. Though, I really disliked Hush Hush. As for Cinder, I'm one of those people WHO TALKS ABOUT IT IN CAPITALS. The first book was good but the series just gets better and better. Also fairytales. ;) Great list Erin!

    1. Ruby Red is definitely good, yet also definitely a bit immature! And thank you, I do try! I did enjoy the photographs in Miss P's, but it just isn't, you know, scary, or beautiful, like everyone says it is. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Hush, Hush! It is entertaining, at least, right? So I'm assuming you're saying I should read Cinder's sequel soon, then? XD Thanks for commenting, Emma!
