Travelling With Books

I clearly love books.  I wouldn't run a blog dedicated to them if I didn't.  And, obviously, I cannot venture out of the comfort of my home without at least one book.  This isn't usually an issue.  I mean, sure, reading at a restaurant and while walking in stores isn't the easiest task, but if I leave my book at home I may very well drop dead.

This is what I look like on a typical day out.  Only without the singing.
And the sheep.  But if someone offered to buy me a sheep, I wouldn't refuse.

Now, when I manage to leave the dark confines of my bedroom, it isn't too much trouble to carry one, possibly two, books with me. But what about vacations, huh?  One or two books certainly doesn't suffice for more than a day or two!  What if I'm gone for a week? Two weeks?  Books are my drug of choice and I cannot survive long without them.

So how am I able to live through an entire vacation?  I bring all the books.  They exist in my suitcase, my purse, the tote bag I have dedicated just for carrying said books.

I mean...what if I run out?

I over-pack as it is, so how am I going to fit a dozen books and all the unnecessary stuff I bring with me? The answer is:  I don't.

Sure, owning an e-reader is supposed to allow you to bring more books without taking up valuable room. But in Reality Land, this isn't true at all.  It simply enables me to bring even more books.

It's times like these when I wish I had the Tardis or an Extension Charm from the Harry Potter world.  I could fit an entire library in there!  Alas, the Doctor hasn't come to whisk me away yet and my Hogwarts letter has sadly been lost in the mail for the past four years...

Until then, all of us bookworms are left to our own devices.  This is unfortunate because packing books is not easy task.  Unless the Doctor finally decides to show up, I guess we are all stuck in this perpetual problem.

  1. Love this post! Great minds definitely do think alike :-D I ALWAYS pack loads of unnecessary things (that aren't books, obviously books aren't unnecessary they are ESSENTIAL) I agree, it is also vital to have a book on your person AT ALL TIMES. Although, Erin, we really need to get you a sheep in order to complete the scene in the top gif ♡

    1. Thanks, Rebekah! I am such an over-packer! Do I need all that stuff? No, but you're right, books are essential! How could we possibly survive without one, at least? I'm up for the sheep, but where to buy one is the question...

  3. Another book related habit passed along. It is truly a family trait. Books are just simply necessary. They are MY TARDIS.

    1. Clearly, reading is genetic. Books are more necessary than air...and food...and other survival things doctors say you need when all you really need is a good book. Hi, dad! :)
