Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.  Today I'm listing only seven auto-buy authors (aka, authors whose books I would buy automatically, no questions asked).  This is all kind of a lie--I always ask questions.  It's up to several different factors, not just who the author is.  But these seven authors are ones I would at least be unbelievable excited for.

I'm currently reading two different Neil Gaiman books right now (Trigger Warning and Stardust).  I've previously read The Ocean at the End of the Lane and Neverwhere.  This guy is ridiculously talented.  I have no words.

I don't care how many books Cassandra Clare has written in the Shadowhunter world, I love them all.  Her writing is so compelling and I can't see myself not reading her books anytime in the close future.

Who else is so excited for Queen of Shadows that they could just die?!  I am!  Her books just keep getting better and better with each new one.  It went from zero to one hundred in two seconds flat.

Okay, I'll admit--I have yet to read A Darker Shade of Magic or Vicious...  Shameful, I know.  But I am absolutely positive I will love them, since I loved The Archived so impossibly much (thanks, dad).

When I was in middle school (that deep, dark place no one wants to remember), I read The Wolves of Mercy Falls series and read them again and again...and yet again.  But then I discovered The Raven Boys...turns out that's even better.  What even.

I will never (and I do mean never) not love Divergent.  Not if zombies plague the earth or society really does become a living Hunger Games.  Never.

I.  Want.  Passenger.  To. Come.  Out.  Now.  I can't wait any longer!  The Darkest Minds remains one of my favorite book series ever and I'm sure Passenger will be just as fabulous, since Alexandra Bracken is consistently excellent in everything she does.

  2. Ooh yay Cassandra Clare! *waves celebratory flag* I really liked Divergent as well, the concept was so creative and interesting, only I'm afraid I wasn't too keen on Tris...
I only got to nine on my list this week... quality not quantity! Much better to reach a lower number of authors you genuinely really like than fill up space with ones you aren't 100% dedicated to. But I agree, there are so many factors that influence buying a book, not just the author!

    1. *Waves flags with you* That's one of my favorite things about Divergent--in a genre of copy cats, Veronica Roth made it original. But, AH! I LOVE TRIS. Exactly! I found it impossible to list the full ten. I'm quite picky so no matter the musician, author, whatever, if I don't love it then I'm not buying it!

  4. BASICALLY YS TO THIS WHOLE LIST. Except, I really can't say anything about Alexandra Bracken because I haven't read anything by her but I REALLY REALLY WANT TO. So it counts to say I love her. *nods* This is legit. And I will read anything and everything Maggie Stiefvater writes. AND THEN I'LL REREAD IT. I never reread, but this year I've been steadily rereading all her wolfy books and falling in love again. :')

    1. WHAT?! You haven't read anything by Alexandra Bracken?! You need to fix this--and SOON! Maggie Stiefvater has been gifted by the writing faeries or something because HER WRITING IS MAGIC--no lie. Thanks for commenting, Cait!

  5. OMG I love Sarah J. Maas's books! I'm currently reading Crown of Midnight (which I've been stuck with since July 31 because I'm in an on-off reading slump) and her writing is so descriptive and amazing! I've also read books from Neil Gaiman, such as The Graveyard Book. Great book, that was. Lovely post Erin!

PS. Am I the only one who thinks Veronica Roth looks like Demi Lovato in the pic?

    1. Me too--obviously! Ah you'll just die when you finish Crown of Midnight and read Heir of Fire! Try and do it before Queen of Shadows comes out, Jillian! You know... I haven't read The Graveyard Book yet... Shameful, I know. And now that you mention it...Veronica Roth really DOES resemble Demi Lovato... Thanks for commenting, Jillian!

  6. Sarah J Maas and Alexandra Bracken ARE MY QUEENS. I have a feeling that once I finally read A Darker Shade of Magic, V.E. Schwab will be on my list, and I want to read The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater so bad. Great list!

    1. I KNOW RIGHT. I would gladly give up my throne (because I clearly rule the world) for either one of them. I feel the exact same about A Darker Shade of Magic. I'll be sucked in by the EPICNESS. Read The Raven Boys, it's incredible! Thanks for commenting, Emma!

I have read a few of the authors on your list, but either only one or two at the most, but i hope that i will get to more of them. Especially the Throne of Glass and the Dark minds series are on my top of my TBR list.
    Great list :)

    1. Ah, Schwab. What a great author, huh? I hope you do read Throne of Glass and The Darkest Minds as soon as humanly possible! They are such great series, really. If I had to choose, I would say TDM is SLIGHTLY better--but that's just me! Thanks for commenting! ;D
