Top Ten Tuesday: Wishes I'd Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.  Who doesn't occasionally wish they had a book genie to grant all their ludicrous and potentially dangerous desires (all I want is a glitter-breathing dragon, okay)?  From my peculiar mind I have procured a list of wishes that I would just die for.  Voila!

1.  Time

If there is one thing in the world I never seem to have enough of, it's that enigmatic and elusive thing called time.  As I have gotten older, it has slipped by ever more quickly.  These days it seems there is only a handful of minutes each day to read and additional time to devour books would be my first request.

2.  Reading Diffusion

If I've never mentioned this before, I happen to suffer from a syndrome dubbed procrastination.  It is actually quite a serious disorder that hinders my ability to properly appreciate books.  Do you ever wish you could simply have already read a book rather than actually picking it up and going through the rather exhausting process of reading?  Imagine if you could simply absorb the information through a process similar to diffusion.  Book diffusion.  Basically, I want another excuse to be lazy.

3.  Book Palace

This wish is fairly self-explanatory.  I want a literal palace composed solely of books.  Including a throne.  After all, I do require someplace to rule the universe from, don't I?

4.  Fictional Transporter

I think we all have longed to jump inside of our favorite book and live in there, at least for a little while.  If it was possible to transport yourself into any and all fictional worlds, I am not sure my family would ever see me again.  Goodbye civilization, hello Hogwarts!

5.  Bookish Soundtracks

I can't be the only one who wants an immaculately compiled soundtrack to go along with every novel?  Similar to how movies have epic music to compliment scenes, each book should come installed with a fitting musical companion.

6.  Goodreads Half-Stars

I have seen so many people request this that I am surprised that Goodreads hasn't already fulfilled the demand.  It isn't too much to ask for, is it?

7.  Impeccable Memory

Have you ever picked up a book in a series you have been reading, only to realize that you can't recall a thing that occurred in the previous book?  What is the central plot and who is this character again?  If only memory never failed us bookworms.

8.  Secret Library

If you have never wished for a ginormous personal library befitting a king or queen, then you're doing something wrong.  Personally, I want a library fit with a bookcase that hides a secret passage into--you guessed it--another, grander library.  I want the library to end all libraries.

9.  Fan Art

Some series (such as The Mortal Instruments, Throne of Glass, etc.) are fortunate enough to have extremely talented and dedicated fans that create stunning works of art to match scenes from the books.  If this could be so for each and every novel, I could truly die happy.

10.  Fictional Synesthesia

If the writing in a book is good--not just good, but outstanding--you may feel as if you are actually enveloped in the fictional world it contains.  But wouldn't it be marvelous if, rather than simply imagining we can taste that rather delicious sounding fictional candy, we actually can taste it?  See the words and experience the imagery.  Well, maybe not for books like The Hunger Games.  That experience would be rather painful.

  2. I NEED ALL OF THESE THINGS IN MY LIFE. Now, if I can just find some volunteers to build me that book palace... don't worry though, Erin, you can still rule the world... as long as you let me borrow your fictional transporter because omg imagine how cool that would be. Reading diffusion would save so much time! Then, in biology we could learn about reading diffusion instead of plant diffusion and everyone would be so much happier. THIS LIBRARY COULD BE LIKE THE ONE IN BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. Except the books would be able to fly. Anyway, in case you haven't already guessed, I love your list, Erin! <3

    1. I WISH that I had a book genie so I could wish for more things! XD We can have book palaces right beside each other (although, as ruler, mine WILL have to be grander). If I had a fictional transporter I would go to possibly every book location save a few (namely the highly dangerous ones). AND THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST LIBRARY IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING OF. A library fit for my book palace. Thanks for commenting, Rebekah!
