Top Ten Tuesday: Books and Halloween Candy

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and today is Halloween themed!!!  I love Halloween, even though I no longer get all dressed up and go trick or treating--and that doesn't stop me from consuming an exorbitant amount of candy every year.  And what's more Halloween themed than candy?

1.  Sour Patch Kids
(a book that is sour, then sweet)

As much as I love this series today, when I first read City of Bones, I wasn't overly impressed.  (Although, I must mention that Sour Patch Kids are my favorite candy ever).

2.  Sweetarts
(a book that is pure sugar)

Anna and the French Kiss is pure sugar sweetness and cotton candy fluff.

3.  Nerds
(a small but delicious book)

My favorite Neil Gaiman book may be only 181 pages long, but while it may be small, the content within is larger than worlds.  It is a pond that is actually an ocean.  You'll understand when you read the book.

4.  Warheads
(a book that is too sour to handle)

I was none too impressed by The Girl on the Train earlier this year and sometimes felt as if I couldn't possibly make it to the end of the book.

5.  Starburst
(a book that is juicy and scandalous)

Schools and libraries have banned Harry Potter for being "satanic."  What is actually scandalous about that is the fact that a children's book about friendship and love.

6.  Milky Way
(a book that is the perfect combination--of chocolate and caramel, of course)

1984 is the ideal combination of phenomenal writing and horror.  The thought of a government such as the one presented in this novel is more chilling than any cheesy slasher movie.

7.  Kit Kat
(a book with a satisfying crunch)

The Darkest Minds is an extremely satisfying read and well rounded series that, in my opinion, isn't missing a thing.

8.  Pez
(a book you like mostly for the packaging)

While the cover of this book is downright gorgeous, The Selection isn't exactly worthy of a literary award.

9. Pop Rocks
(a book with a sudden turn of events)

And Then There Were None is a book comprised completely of plot twists that I would bet you couldn't guess--no matter how hard you try.

10.  Laffy Taffy
(a book that sticks with you)

It has been over a month since I read this spectacular book and still can't stop thinking about it.  Just wait--in fifty years, the same thoughts about this book will be still running circles in my head.

  1. Oh you are so darn creative!! I love this. I just put All the Light We Cannot see on hold at the library. I can't wait! Anna is totally pure sugar. Great list!

    1. Haha, thanks! XD I am so happy you are going to read All the Light We Cannot See--it is truly wonderful. Thanks for commenting!

  2. CANDY CANDY CANDY. I loved this list before I even read beyond the title and now I've read to the end I love it even more. You also featured two of my favourite books (I think you know which they are! ;-) ) And, as usual, you also featured loads of books I NEED to read. Especially All the Light We Cannot See, 1984, The Darkest Minds and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. And omg Starbursts and Milky Way. I adore sour candy. Although, I haven't heard of some of these sweets - I need American candy in my life! But Laffy Taffy??? That is such an awesome name. Excuse me while I go and google it ;-) Awesome list, Erin! ♡

    1. I LOVE CANDY. Can you tell? There are SO MANY awesome books we both need to read! And you have so many candies you need to try! Sour candy is my favorite, but I am also partial to sweetness, so Sour Patch Kids are the best--if you can ever get you hands on them, I'm sure you would adore them. And Laffy Taffy's have jokes on the wrappers! LAFFY Taffy, get it? Thanks for commenting, Rebekah!

  3. I love this post! It's such a creative idea. Great pairings!

    1. Thank you so much! It made me hungry to write it, though! XD

  4. Omg I love the Selection series covers too. xD I know the "pretty dress" covers get a lot of glares, buuuut. I love them. :') AHH AND OMG THAT NEIL GAIMAN BOOK GAVE ME THE HEEBIES. I loved it!! But...but that worm. Omg I am still in recovery from that horror.

    1. But the dresses are SO PRETTY--I don't care if it's a cliche. Honestly, I just want to be a princess! XD AND OH MY GOD THE WORM--I'm cringing. Thanks for commenting, Cait!
