Behind the Blog: I've Moved!

Surprise--I'm talking about something non-bookish today!  Scarily, I'm addressing that real life exists outside of book pages.  As the title of this says, I've moved houses recently.  Recently meaning just a few days ago.  It has been a hectic experience--one I am not eager to go through again anytime in the foreseeable future.

Story time:  my house, the house I lived in for nearly a decade and the one I grew up in has been on the market for a short forever. About a month or so ago, it finally sold, and on October 9, 2015, I left it forever.  It was bittersweet--there's no other word for it.  I have been ready to move from the town I lived in for years now, but actually leaving is an entirely different thing.  Goodbyes are never any fun.  I still cannot quite believe that I won't wake up in my old bedroom tomorrow, go to my old high school, and say hello to my friends in class again.  It all feels like a terribly realistic dream.

All this means the start of an entirely new life.  A new beginning. New school, new house, new library. Luckily enough, I have not one, but two libraries and two bookstores in my new town.  The first chance I get, I am getting a library card and checking out as many books as I can carry.  Let's just hope that my new high school isn't situated on top of an opening to hell (Buffy reference for the win).

Here is the part where this turns into a horror story:  I haven't been able to read a book for about two weeks.  I haven't been able to post or comment for a good week at least now.  If you've noticed my severe lack of activity, blame the insanity that comes with major change.  Hopefully, the situation will soon be rectified and I can start writing and reading much more frequently.

The town that I now inhabit (which I will not name, for obvious safety reasons) is a living fairy tale. Okay, I admit--that may be a bit of an exaggeration.  However, it is extremely post card worthy. While I am sad to have left my home behind, I am eager to see what opportunities this place has to offer and hopefully catch up on everything book related. Wish me luck!

  1. Aw, Erin I've missed your blogging presence! I hope all goes well with settling in in your new town and house and everything... although FOUR bookish buildings nearby? That sounds like heaven. Lots of reasons for reading - your bookshelves won't know what hit them! ;-) Moving altogether sounds like a bittersweet experience and I wish you the best of luck! ♡ Oh and by the way... Bata-lata-lata-la? I have never heard that variation before. (I say Bala-lala-lala-la). But Baymax in any context is just the best thing ever. I really really really really need Baymax in my life. :-D

    1. Aww, thanks, Rebekah! I've missed blogging. XD While moving is exhausting, I am over the moon excited about all the BOOKS! It's almost unimaginably awesome. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time gazing longingly at books rather than reading them! Thanks so much for the well wishes--they mean a lot. And I honestly don't understand why it's "bata-lata-lata-la" but it was the highest quality one I saw! XD Thanks for commenting!

  3. I've definitely missed you and your blog these past few weeks! When you said your new town was like a fairy tale it made me immediately think of Henrietta in The Raven Boys (I have no idea how far West Virginia is from where you live, but there can still be magic anywhere, right?). Maybe you can go exploring and turn your life into the events of a novel. I hope everything goes well in your new town/school. It sucks that you've had to leave so much behind, but you never know what amazing new things you could encounter. ♡ Now I'm really worried that I sound like a patronising old lady XD

Also, you deserve the highest of fives for that Buffy reference (it's a shame you can't high five through a computer XD).

    1. Aww, thanks, Emma! I WISH I was part of a magical scheme to awaken a sleeping Welsh king. Who knows, though--maybe I will find a ley line around here somewhere. It COULD happen, you know. With my luck I would die within two minutes, though. I also hope everything goes well, of course. It was hard leaving everything behind but I am actually glad to have done it. XD Also, *virtual high five* Thanks for commenting!

  4. WHY DID I ONLY SEE THIS NOW??? :( :(

I hope moving went alright for you, even if it might have been stressful at first. I have never moved at all and I've been living in the same city for a very long time, so I don't know how it feels to adjust completely to a new environment. I hope you're doing okay! And so happy to hear that at least you have libraries and bookstores right next to you! <3

    1. Moving has been an odd experience, but a welcome one! It is very confusing and stressful (especially school), but I am adjusting. :D School is the weirdest part! It feels like I'm attending someone else's school. But the bookstores are a plus! Thanks for commenting, Jillian!

  5. ohhh good luck with your move and settling in!! :D I am not a fan of moving *sigh* I've moved like 11+ times in my life and I loathe all the changes. *sighs again* It is nice when a new town has a better library though. XD My latest move brought me to the BEST library of my life and I've had such a good time devouring so so many books. :') I HOPE YOU ARE SETTLED IN SOON AND EVERYTHING IS GLORIOUS!!

    1. Thanks, Cait! Currently, I can't find anything in all the boxes, but I'm sure they're there...somewhere. That's a lot of moving, by the way. I think I have only moved four or five times. And, yes, I am EXTREMELY pleased with my new bookstores and libraries. Thanks for commenting! :D
