Recap: June 2015!

June is over and it's finally Summer!  This means lounging around, marathoning shows on Netflix, and doing nothing productive whatsoever.

But I do try, you know (sometimes)!  I read five books this past month, even with my busy schedule of doing nothing.  Without further ado, those books are...

Rating:  4 Keys

A Court of Thorns and Roses is the newest book released by Sarah J. Maas.  While it is too heavy handed on the romance and has some pacing issues, the writing is as stunning as ever, set in a vibrantly built world.

Rating:  3 Keys

Sadly, I was left feeling pretty apathetic about this one.  It didn't cause any real reaction in me at all, something that I was deeply disappointed by, considering Gayle Forman's previous works.

Rating:  3 Keys

Neverwhere is one of Neil Gaiman's earlier works, and you can tell.  His writing is as stunning as always, only less developed. I wanted more of the characters and the world than you get.  Then again, what you are given is brilliant and creative, so I still thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Rating:  4 Keys

I adored this book, almost as much as I adore myself (which is a lot, since I'm awesome).  The protagonist, Adelina, is as dark as they come and the magic is all very unique.  This was on my Summer 2015 TBR, so one down, nine to go.

Rating:  2.5 Keys

I'm not much of a nonfiction girl, and this book only confirmed that.  Although written like a story, I just found the writing to be mediocre and very heavily edited.  While be easy to read, the book still didn't appeal much to me.

Now back to my regular activities of sitting in my bedroom watching cat videos on YouTube, because going outdoors (which is surely a made-up thing) is for chumps.

  1. Being busy doing nothing is actually VERY tiring and time-consuming. Gawsh. People underestimate the business of doing nothing, they truly do. *nods sagely* ANYWAY. I didn't like I Was Here, either. >_< I looooved If I Stay and sequel, but I Was Here?! I cringe thinking about it. It was like a book about how stalking was bad...shown by the protagonist...then stalking the stalker??? ERM. WHAT.
Totally agree with you on ACOTAR as well. XD

    1. People just don't understand that doing nothing is a very important part of my daily routine! Glad to find someone who gets it! And, yes, when I stopped doing nothing for the time it took to read I Was Here, it just didn't have the same effect as If I Stay... I was miffed by the whole stalking down the stalker thing, too. Um...weird. Thanks for commenting!

  2. I Was Here is one I want to read and probably will at some point but I will lessen expectations. Yay for Netflix and doing nothing productive!!

    1. I Was Here is well written, at least, just lacking in the depth department, sadly. Netflix really is the best way to do nothing! XD
