Top Ten Tuesday: Songs I Wish Were Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.  Just so you know, I may have a slight obsession with music, but these are not necessarily my top ten favorite songs, just the ones I would actually like to see in a book format.

1.  Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

This particular album is a concept album, so it is a story within itself, but I would like to see an entire novel based on the idea in this song and its music video.  Actually just go ahead and put every song by them on here, really.

2.  Piano Man by Billy Joel

Classic Billy Joel.  The song itself spells out quite a scene, and would make a nice short story.

3.  House on a Hill by The Pretty Reckless

I always imagine this one as a killer dystopian rebellion.

4.  Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

This song is beyond dramatic, and I love every ounce of it.

5.  Hotel California by The Eagles

Something about this song has always kind of creeped me out, so I naturally want a novel sized version.

6.  Heavy in Your Arms by Florence and the Machine

I always imagined this one as a tragic murder mystery involving the supernatural.

7.  The Words by Christina Perri

There is an adorable music video, but it wouldn't hurt to have a book, as well.

8.  Drugstore Perfume by Gerard Way

This whole album is just...  I want more.

9.  Control by Halsey

So I finally jumped aboard the Halsey train.  It's a different style for me, but I'm liking it.

10.  The Draw by Bastille

Remember that song Pompeii that went viral a few years back?  Yeah, that's this band, and they actually have other (and better) songs.

  3. *SCREECHES* THE BLACK PARADE AND HESITANT ALIEN AND BADLANDS OH MY GOSH. Hesitant Alien, especially, is one of my favorite all-time albums of ever.

Personally, I would like to see "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" by Set it Off, "The 'I' in Lie" by Patrick Stump, or "Jackie and Wilson" by Hozier.

  4. YES!! I NEED tbp as a book. The whole album would work so well... it tells a beautiful story anyway. The book would be miserable af though! If the album makes me cry this much, imagine what a book would do to me...

Is it just me, or does this week's theme really feel like they're asking you to write a Songfic??? Not that I'm complaining or anything... XD

    1. I just...THAT ALBUM. THAT BAND. Or should I say idea? I'M SORRY I HAD TO. Anyway, I love sad stories so it is no wonder I want TBP as a book. I'm kind of a masochist, I think. And, really, this theme, really. XD Thanks for commenting, Denise! ❤

  5. Idk why you feel creep out by Hotel California, I actually thought it was comforting :D It just feels old and cosy. I actually liked Laura Palmer by Bastille, but since the song is based from a tv show i'm not sure it would be a book... and i want a book based on anything by florence & the machine please! their song is epic! but my favorite is never let me go :D

    1. I don't know, I have just always found the lyrics to be eerie and a bit disturbing, but in a good way, if that makes any sense whatsoever. And I really enjoy Laura Palmer, too, but I did avoid songs based on other stories for this. And Never Let Me Go is my favorite by Florence and the Machine, too! It has been for years. Thanks for commenting, Tasya! ❤

  8. Love this prompt! AND SO INTRIGUING. I feel like I should listen to music more for story ideas, since I don't often listen to music. But yes to Bohemian Rhapsody. FAVE.
